The 2019 International Congress of General Surgery (held at Leon, Guanajuato, México) organized and hosted by the Asociación Mexicana de Cirugía General, included talks on Safe Surgical Procedures and had several events in adjacent conference rooms. Most of them were workshops and precongress courses on Surgical Topics. My New Body Obesity Center Lead Surgeon Alberto Carlos MD, attended the congress and took the course on endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Carlos was very excited about the topics covered in the congress and the superb overall organization of the event. Not only with the Congress, but with the city of Leon “The cultural offer found in Leon is extraordinary, I was able to take the time to do some tourism and was amazed with the people, the culture and magical vibe offered by its colonial landscapes. On the congress, I am very pleased with the opportunity to learn from my peers and learn from their experience and finding out about the newest surgical techniques and technology”.
My New Body Obesity Center surgeon’s are committed with our community and our patients in order to always stay up-to-date in the medical, scientific and technological advances in the field of Bariatric and General Surgery. 3 Non Surgical Facts shared by Dr. Carlos:
- The International Cervantes Festival is the most important artistic and cultural event in Latin America. The event, has been held in Guanajuato every year since 1972.
- The city of Guanajuato’s so-called “Kiss Alley,” is only 68 centimeters (around two feet) wide. Couples who visit the alley are supposed to kiss in order to ensure seven years of happiness.
- Guanajuato is also famous for its mummies. When an old cemetery was exhumed , workers discovered that the bodies had been preserved. Over 100 of the bodies make up a gruesome display at the Museo de las Momias.
